My love for nutrition and health started at a young age and grew into a deep passion in my college years. Early in my journey I used to diet and consume what I thought were healthy foods. These foods claimed to be “healthy” and “natural”, when in reality they were just highly processed foods that caused me to have acne, bad stomach pains, depression, and no energy to last me through the day.
It wasn’t until I educated myself a little more and began consuming more whole, natural foods that I felt a drastic change in my mind and body. This is when I realized the interconnection our body and mind has with food. I saw improvements in my digestion, my mood, my mind was sharper, my energy levels improved....I was less stressed...I was happy and my skin was glowing. This was how my body was supposed to feel and it felt amazing. From that point on I wanted to share with everyone how eating whole natural foods changed my life.
After that semester I changed majors from physical therapy to nutrition so that I could become a dietitian. From there I learned everything there is to know about food and the industry but most importantly how food affects the body and what the body requires to achieve great health. The food that we put in our bodies plays such an essential role from a cellular level which in turn determines how we function physically, mentally, and even emotionally.
WHY DID I CREATE NUTRITION IN THE RAW
From my personal experience in making lifestyle changes and the outcomes I've seen with myself, everything I've learned to become a registered dietitian I want to take that experience and knowledge to help people. Whether thats something as small as introducing them to one of their favorite recipes or guiding them through a meal plan my mission is to empower people with the tools they need to live their happiest and healthiest. When choosing to start a path to a healthy and nutritious life – it can feel really intimidating and confusing with all of the information out there. My goal is to change that by giving things to you raw, straightforward making nutrition and health simple and easy to understand. So welcome to Nutrition In The Raw. Here you can find nutrition and health advice, delicious recipes, meal plans, and one-on-one coaching to help support you on your journey to a healthier happier you. If you are looking to move into a direction of great health know that it is absolutely possible with food and making some lifestyle changes. Everyone is at a different point in his or her health journey and I work to meet my clients where they stand by creating a custom plan that is individualized and specifically tailored to their goals and needs.
I attended California State University for my B.S. in Nutrition Science (Dietetics). I completed my supervised practice hours at several locations in Southern California, including developmentally disabled pediatric care, general hospital care, different clinics specializing in eating disorders, HIV/AIDS, and diabetes, consulting for a university faculty wellness program, managing food service operations for a school district, and a food distribution center.
As a registered dietitian I offer nutrition advice, medical nutrition therapy, and consulting/coaching services.
I’m a member of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Inland District Dietetic Association. My deepest passions in nutrition lie in integrative and functional nutrition, nutrition linked to mental health, nutrigenomics (the study of the effects of food on gene expression), pregnancy nutrition, sports nutrition, and specialty diets including vegan, vegetarian, paleo, and Ayurveda.
